Blogs and Self Promotion

If you’re in business and no one knows about you, it’s your own fault.  There are so many ways to get the word out about who you are and what you do—-and thanks to social media—-getting exposure has gotten so much easier.

What many people fail to realize is they can actually promote themselves while promoting others.  Self promotion starts, in my opinion, with promoting others first.  That brings me to Mitch Mitchell.  Although we’ve never met in person, we’ve been connected with online for several years.  Mitch is THE BEST I know when it comes to the art of self promotion.  I’m sure he wouldn’t call it that but what he does is create blog posts about his connections and shares them with his community—

Here are a couple of examples:  29 More Black Social Media InfluencersIssac Bidwell Interview ; Yasmin Shiraz Interview

Now I might add that getting this kind of exposure on someone else’s blog is piceless, so hopefully these people did at least say “thank you.”

And, I, too, am saying THANK YOU AGAIN to Mitch for profiling me for the second or third time on his blog today.  Here it is:  Beverly Mahone:  Boomer Media Professional Enjoy!

One more thing, I recommend you connect with Mitch, subscribe to his blog and comment—Who knows, you may be one of his future profiles.

Hi Beverly, it’s a pleasure to have gotten to know you. I guess being around Mitch you will get to know only the best. First let me personally thank you for the excellent interview with Mitch on his blog, and yes I am also listening to the radio interviews.
I have to agree with you on the subject of promoting of oneself. There is this misguided perception that if you promote another person site on your Twitter or Facebook site it is of little or no value to you. This is just not true the way I see it, you have an equal opportunity. I feel it’s a matter of consistency and having good material and other will view not only what is put out but who put it out. …. and yes Beverley Mitch is without doubt one of the all time greats.

    William,
I am of the opinion that tooting the horn of others gives you even greater exposure because others will see you aren’t selfish when it comes to highlighting the accomplishment of others. Thanks for dropping by

  3. Miss Bev, it was a pleasure having you as an interview subject on my blog. You’re actually on my other blog as well almost 3 years ago with my interview series there, so I hope you get to use that one as well.
